## Greenwood County Council Approves New Millage Rates

Greenwood County Council has unanimously approved new property tax millage rates following a countywide reassessment. This decision was made during a special called meeting at the Greenwood County Library, where Resolution 2026-31 was approved.

The county’s operating rate has decreased from 61.2 mills to 57.5 mills. This rollback in millage rates aims to maintain operational property tax revenue at a roughly neutral level across Greenwood County. However, officials have noted that this does not guarantee individual taxpayers will owe the same amount as the previous year.

Property value reassessment is a process required every five years. The 39-mill countywide school levy, which is established by state statute, remains unchanged. Property tax bills for Greenwood County are typically sent out in October.
