AIKEN, S.C. — Scattered power outages were reported throughout the area early Saturday, and the National Weather Service issued a flood watch for parts of South Carolina, including Aiken, Edgefield and Barnwell counties.

Heavier rain arrived later in the morning and into the afternoon as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias moved through the region.

Both Dominion Energy and Aiken Electric Co-Op reported outages in their service areas throughout the day. As of 7 p.m., nearly 500 Dominion customers in the area were without power and Aiken Electric had 31 reports of outages.

A separate CSRA account said a flash-flood warning issued at 4:36 p.m. covered west-central Aiken and south-central Edgefield counties in South Carolina along with parts of metro Augusta, expiring at 6:30 p.m.

That account said forecasters estimated 2 to 3 inches of rain had already fallen across parts of the warning area by about 5:30 p.m., with another 1 to 3 inches possible.

Emergency managers stressed the danger to drivers, noting that most flood deaths happen in vehicles, and urged people not to drive through water covering the road.

The Sunday forecast called for showers and thunderstorms likely before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 and 10 a.m., with cloudy skies giving way to sun by afternoon.
