Chapin, S.C. — Chapin-area high schools posted excellent ratings on South Carolina 2026 school report cards released Monday, with Spring Hill High School leading Midlands scores and Chapin High close behind.

Spring Hill High School, a Chapin-area magnet school in Lexington-Richland 5, scored an 84, placing it in the excellent category. Chapin High scored a 78, also excellent under the state scale that rates any school at 61 or above as excellent.

School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties said the results show significant progress across key measures compared with the previous year. In the Chapin-Irmo area, the district claimed the Midlands highest percentage of graduation-ready students and reported above-average rankings for math and English language arts proficiency.

Chapin High School Eagles compete in SCHSL Class 5A, Region 3 for the 2026-2028 realignment cycle. Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. said the gains reflect teachers, staff, students and families while the district remains focused on academic growth for every student.

Lexington High scored 79 and River Bluff High School scored 75 on the same release. District Five said it is celebrating the latest cards as part of a continued push for educational excellence across Chapin, Irmo and the rest of the district.
