Chapin, S.C. — The Chapin Eagles enter the final stretch of the high school football regular season 10th in the Class 5A Upper State RPI standings with a rating of 0.52676, putting the Eagles in the thick of the playoff seeding race.

All five classifications will use RPI for seeding for the first time this fall. The rating factors in wins, losses and strength of schedule, and in Class 5A twenty-four teams make the playoffs, split between the Upper State and Lower State.

Chapin is 4-4 overall and 0-2 in AAAAA Region 3 after a three-game skid that included region losses at River Bluff, 34-25, and at home against Dutch Fork, 21-8. The Eagles are 3-1 at home and have scored 225 points while allowing 167.

The Upper State list is led by Northwestern and Dutch Fork, with River Bluff at 0.63833 and Lexington at 0.56883 sitting just ahead of the Eagles.

Chapin travels to White Knoll on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. White Knoll carries a 0.36926 rating, so a road win would protect the Eagles spot in the seeding. The regular season closes on Oct. 23 when Chapin hosts Lexington in a region game that could shape both teams playoff path.
