CHAPIN, S.C. — The Chapin High girls basketball team has a holiday trip to the coast on its calendar after landing a place in the field for the 2026 Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach.
Chapin appears on the tournament’s official girls lineup, a 40-team bracket that tips off Dec. 21 and wraps up Dec. 23. This winter marks the 28th edition of the girls event.
The Eagles, who play in SCHSL Class 5A, Region 3 for the 2026-2028 realignment cycle, will be part of a field that stretches well beyond South Carolina. Visitors include Second Baptist from Texas, Peters Township from Pennsylvania, St. Mary-Ryken from Maryland, Ramsay from Alabama and Winter Haven from Florida.
Plenty of in-state opponents made the cut as well. Richland Northeast, C.A. Johnson, Heathwood Hall, Keenan, Lugoff-Elgin and Wando are among the South Carolina programs listed alongside Chapin.
Where Chapin plays will depend on its bracket. The top girls bracket is slated for the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, while the other brackets will fill the courts at John T. Rhodes Sports Center. Every bracket title game moves to the Convention Center. Matchups and tip times have not been announced.
The boys tournament, now in its 46th year, follows from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30 with 18 teams at the Convention Center, putting 58 teams across the two events.
Chapin High School sits at 300 Columbia Ave. and is part of Lexington-Richland School District Five.
